Weather in Jamaica

The weather in Jamaica is probably some of the best in the world today. This island has a tropical climate which pretty much ensures that you have beautiful weather no matter what time of year you actually choose to visit Jamaica.

On average the temperatures in Jamaica do not fluctuate much (no more than 10 degrees) and on average sit at between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. But if you are not one for too much heat then the months of July and August should be avoided. Whereas the coolest weather tends to occur in Jamaica in February.

Although generally the temperatures do not get much below 80 or 90 if you intend going into the mountainous area of Jamaica take warm clothing. The reason being that the temperatures can go as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Although the island does have rain it is not that much and the wettest months are usually May, June, October and November and even sometimes in December. However, there are certain parts of the island those on the eastern coast the windward side of the island will receive more rain than any other part of it.

Also you should be aware that from 1 June until 30 November the chances of the island being hit by hurricanes are greatly increased. The months when hurricanes are most likely to occur are in August and September. But because there are so many islands which make up the Caribbean including Jamaica the chances of them being hit by one are very slim. Generally at this time the islands will experience much heavier rain fall than normal.

Trail of Tears National Historic Trail

The Trail of Tears is not exactly a source of American pride. It was the forced removal of Native Americans from their lands east of the Mississippi to what is now Oklahoma. Though most associated with the Cherokee nation, there were fifteen tribes that were relocated, many of them using the route that was used for the Cherokee. Currently, the National Park Service is looking at expanding the route as there were many routes used for the removal that were not well documented and included in the current route. It's the belief that it will better tell the story of Cherokee removal. The trails currently run through nine states with trail heads in Fort Payne, AL, Chattanooga and Charleston, TN and ending in Fort Smith, Evansville and Fayetteville, AR and Tahlequah, OK.

Capulin Volcano National Monument

Who needs to travel all the way to Hawaii to see a volcano? This volcano in New Mexico is long extinct, however, it's a good example of a perfectly formed cone shape. There is a paved road and paved trails that will take you to the top rim giving you a gorgeous view. There's even a trail around the rim so you can get a 360 degree view of the entire area. The trails will give you a unique look inside of a volcano-one of the few places in the world where you can do that. Rangers are available to give short talks and guidance when you find them on the trails.

Cape Lookout National Seashore

The Cape Lookout area of North Carolina is a 56 mile stretch of undeveloped beach area that consists of barrier islands. It's part of the area known as the Outer Banks and south of its more famous "cousin" Cape Hattaras. It's only accessible by boat and there are many ferries that go there. When you get there, you have a choice of many things to do. Check out the two lighthouses, pick up incredible shells, and of course boating and fishing. They are probably better known for the wild horses that roam free along Shackleford Banks island. They even have a season for water fowl hunting in the fall. There are some accommodations, but they are consistently described as "rustic" and "primitive" throughout all descriptions available. Rangers offer daily programs throughout the season which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Malabar region is famous for growing commercial crops like Tea, Coffee, Coconut, Betel and Pepper. And Andaman Islands are dwelt by evergreen, mangrove and beach forests.
